Things Are Going Downhill Quickly Over Eastern Mississippi, About to Move into Western Alabama

| April 13, 2019 @ 11:38 pm

Four tornado warnings now along the Alabama/Mississippi border.

The two most dangerous storms are between Amory MS and Sulligent Alabama. This tornado may hit Detroit in Lamar County, Alabama. Residents in Lamar County must be in safe shelter now! This storm apparently just missed the Columbus radar.

The severe thunderstorm warning just issued for Lamar and Marion is for very strong winds on the back side of the storm that produced the tornado. We are watching it for signs of re-intensification.

The next dangerous storm is just west of Emelle in Sumter County. It could affect Geiger, Panola, and Cochrane.

The storm near Macon MS is becoming intense as well and will move into Pickens County. Folks near Macedonia and Reform need to be preparing.

Finally, the tornado warned storm over Clarke County MS will impact Sumter County eventually. Be monitoring it closely as well.

The situation is unfolding as we feared with a powerful low-level jet powering the storms and causing them to intensify.
