Thanks to Mike McCormick for these images… he writes:

“James, on Saturday, my family and I took a trip to Mentone for the Rhododendron Festival atop Lookout Mountain. Afterwards we went to Desoto State Park and saw the old stone church built by the CCC years ago. The final stop was at the Little River just outside Fort Payne. We took these pictures and just wanted to share them with you and the readers of the BLOG. As you notice in one, the Mountain Laurel is in full bloom. In another you can see people swimming in the cold river below the falls. When you look at these pictures it makes you wonder why people have to travel so far to see the beauty of our heavenly father in this country when we have it right here in our state. ”
