Just After Midday, It’s Only Nice If You’re At A Pool Or Indoors

| May 25, 2019 @ 1:17 pm

Plenty of sunshine is bathing Central Alabama as we have crossed over into the 1:00 pm hour on this last Saturday of May. Those cumulus clouds that are dotting the satellite image are not helping bring any relief to the heat we are already experiencing today. Temperatures are currently in the upper 80s to the mid-90s across the area. Tuscaloosa and Uniontown are the hot spots at 95 degrees, while the cool spot was Cullman at 88 degrees. Birmingham was at 90 degrees.

We’ll continue to have mostly sunny skies throughout the rest of the afternoon and into the early evening hours. Highs will reach the lower to mid-90s across the area with a few locations possibly hitting the upper 90s. For tonight, skies will clear out and lows will drop into the mid-60s to the lower 70s.

THE HEAT CONTINUES THROUGHOUT THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND
You would think that we were late into the “Dog Days” of summer with the impressive heat wave that we are seeing at this point, and we are still 4 weeks away from the official start to summertime. Sunday, we’ll have plenty of sun, very little in clouds, and very hot in the temperature department with highs reaching the mid to upper 90s for most across Central Alabama. Clouds will increase on Monday, but those will not make a difference in temperatures as highs will remain in the mid to upper 90s. Just remember to drink plenty of hydrating fluids and move into a well air-conditioned room if you start to feel a little sick from the heat.
