The peak sustained wind so far across southeastern Louisiana was 66 mph at Dulac in Terrebonne Parish south of Houma.

Flooding is ongoing across the low lying parishes of southeastern Louisiana. LA-1 to Grand Isle is now flooded and the community is cut off. The U.S. Coast Guard did have to rescue 11 people from their flooded homes in Ile de Jean in southern Terrebonne Parish, in a voluntary evacuation area.

Heavy rains of 10-14 inches will fall east of the center across southeastern Louisiana into southern Mississippi. Fortunately, the new Orleans area is expected to receive around 3-5 inches, which the city’s pumps should be able to handle. This makes the forecasted crests on the Mississippi River lower than the dire ones issued Thursday and Friday. The Carrollton Gauge in New Orleans is forecast now to crest at 17.1′, down from the 19′ forecast yesterday. No overtopping of levees is expected.
