Afternoon Forecast Refresh: Scattered Showers and Storms Developing

| July 21, 2019 @ 1:30 pm

It’s a hot and humid Sunday afternoon across Central Alabama. Scattered showers and storms are developing across the area. None are especially noteworthy at this hour. They will continue to develop and die out in the sluggish environment through the afternoon hours.

They should be most concentrated and heaviest over eastern Mississippi and northwestern Alabama where moisture levels are slightly better.

Highs this afternoon will be in the upper 80s to near 90F. Dewpoints are in the lower 70s making it feel uncomfortable.

Tonight will be partly cloudy, warm and humid with lows in the lower and middle 70s.

Tomorrow will again feature scattered showers and storms developing during the heating of the day. An approaching front will trigger an additional round of showers and storms through the overnight hours. It should be weakening as it pulls into Central Alabama after midnight, but hopefully, there will be a few rain producers still around into the morning hours Tuesday.

This activity is going to be produced by an approaching front that will push through Central Alabama on Tuesday setting the stage for two rain-free days Wednesday and Thursday with lower humidities but still warm daytime highs. Overnight lows, however, will be quite comfortable for July, in the lower and middle 60s across North and Central Alabama. A few lucky spots in Northeast Alabama will fall into the upper 50s both Wednesday and Thursday morning.
