Saturday Afternoon Showers and Storms

| August 3, 2019 @ 12:34 pm

We have been mainly dry for most of the morning hours, but just before midday, showers and storms started developing quickly across many areas of Alabama.

Rain chances are pretty high today as numerous showers and storms are expected to meander across the Alabama landscape through the afternoon and evening hours. As we see each day, the storm placement is random and with the slow movement, expect areas of very heavy rainfall over a short period of time. Along with the rain, expect frequent lightning, and some of the stronger storms could produce gusty winds and small hail.

Where it is not raining, it remains hot and humid with temperatures in the upper 80s and lower 90s with a mix of sun and clouds.

But where it is raining, temperatures are being knocked down into the  70s. For tomorrow, expect a near repeat performance from the weather with numerous showers and storms across Alabama, with the highest coverage during the afternoon and evening hours. Through the weekend, rain distribution will remain very uneven, with some places getting too much, while others could not see a drop at all. However, with the higher rain chances this weekend, at some point your location should see rain, but that is no guarantee.
