Showers, Some Thunderstorms Over East Alabama

| September 1, 2019 @ 2:56 pm

A few showers and storms are occurring across East Central Alabama this afternoon as the upper-level trough swinging in from the northwest is interacting with higher moisture to the southeast. They are not associated with Dorian.

The activity extends from Talladega County down US-280 through Coosa, Tallapoosa, and Lee Counties.

Some lighter shoers are over Calhoun and Cleburne Counties as well in East Alabama.

The heaviest storms are over southern Lee and northern Russell County. Movement is generally to the west southwest and west.

Temperatures are in the upper 80s generally. Dewpoints are in the uncomfortable range, around 70F. Lows tonight will be near 70F.

Extremely intense Hurricane Dorian is battern the northern Bahamas but will have no impact on Alabama or the Central Gulf Coast.
