Imelda Weakens to A Depression: Potentially Significant Flash Flood Event for Southeast Texas/Houston Overnight

Tropical Storm Imelda no longer has winds of tropical storm force and has now been downgraded to a tropical depression over Southeast Texas.

The main threat from the storm is now and has always been heavy rains.

Here are five-day projected rainfall totals from the Weather Prediction Center.

A potentially significant flash flood event along the upper Texas coast and Houston area may set up overnight. Hourly totals in excess of 2″ with totals through 4 AM CDT 3-6″ are likely. Isolated totals through 4 AM CDT of 6-8″ are possible.
