Records Set Today, More on Tap for Monday

| September 29, 2019 @ 8:14 pm

All four Central Alabama major reporting stations broke or tied their records today.

The high at Birmingham was 97F, breaking the old record of 96F set in 1904.

At Montgomery, the mercury reached 98F, smashing the old record of 96F, set in 1904.

Anniston reached 96F, breaking the old record of 95F, also set in 1904.

The high at Tuscaloosa was 96F, tying the previous record set in 1986.

We’ll likely break all 4 records again tomorrow with Montgomery a good bet for 100F.

In North Alabama., Muscle Shoals tied its record high for the date at 97F. Huntsville smashed its old record of 94F with a high of 97F.

Only 0.05 inches of rain has fallen at Montgomery so far in September. If they receive less than 0.07 inches tomorrow, they will set the record for the driest September ever there, breaking the 0.12 set in 1923. 0.05 inches will also register as the sixth driest month ever there.
