It’s 8:00 PM & Its Rather Quiet Across Central Alabama

Rather quiet across Central Alabama as we have reached the 8 o’clock hour on this final Wednesday night of October for 2019. For much of the area, it is a dry evening with the exception of a few light showers or sprinkles showing up over the northern half of the area. There is a good bit of rain falling south of I-85 but all of that is just moderate rainfall without any lightning showing.

Our upcoming action is currently over the state of Mississippi and back into Louisiana and Arkansas. At this point, no watches or warnings are currently in effect for any storms in those states.

SPC continues the entire state in a Marginal Risk for severe storms for tonight and through the overnight hours until 7:00 am Thursday morning. After that, a Marginal Risk is up for the eastern two-thirds of Central Alabama.

Isolated damaging winds and a brief tornado remain possible across Central Alabama during the overnight and into the morning hours on Thursday.

Timing remains the same… The cold front will begin to push into the state in the 12am-2am time frame, reaching the central parts of the area in the 6am-9am time frame, and pushing south and east of the I-85 corridor by 9am-12pm.

• From locations along and west of a line from Geiger to Jasper to Vinemont – 12:00 am to 4:00 am.
• East of that to a line stretching from Orrville to Chelsea to Gadsden – 3:00 am to 7:00 am.
• East of that to a line stretching from Hayneville to Alexander City to Ranburne – 6:00 am to 10:00 am.
• East of that to the AL/GA state line – only isolated strong storms possible but not likely at this point.
