Showers Starting To Get Closer To The Area, Freeze Warnings Start Early On Tuesday

| November 11, 2019 @ 12:14 pm

As of 11:45 am, showers are approaching the northwest corner of Central Alabama and the western parts of North Alabama, but at this point, the area remains dry. Much of Central Alabama has mostly clear skies, but those clouds associated with the cold front are moving into the western parts of the area. Temperatures are in the lower 60s to the lower 70s across the area. Birmingham was at 68 degrees. The cool spots were Haleyville and Gadsden at 63 degrees. Uniontown was the warm spot ar 72 degrees.

WEATHER FOR THE REST OF YOUR MONDAY
Clouds will continue to move in from the west and rain chances will start to pick up as those showers will move into the northwestern parts of the area shortly. Those showers will be scattered in nature to start with across the area, but a line of showers along with the cold front will move over the I-59 corridor around 9-11 pm tonight and eventually making to the I-85 corridor by 12-2 am. Once the front approaches and passes your location, be ready for those winds to pick up and temperatures to begin dropping. Today’s highs will reach the mid-60s to the lower 70s across the area. By midnight, temperatures will be ranging from the upper 30s in the northwest to the lower 60s in the southeast.

A RAW & COLD TUESDAY
By sunrise, the backside of the precipitation will be just a few miles north of the I-59 corridor. At that point, temperatures will be right at or just below freezing and we could see a brief changeover to sleet pellets, snow flurries, or a wintry mix. No accumulations are expected as the ground will be well above freezing. South of the I-59 corridor, temperatures will remain above freezing and that change will be less likely. All precipitation will be out of the area by late morning to around the midday hours, but we’ll be left to deal with gusty winds out of the north possibly reaching 30 MPH at times. Highs will be in the mid-30s to the mid-40s and wind chills could be as much as 8-12 degrees lower than that at times. Skies will be clear during the night time hours which will allow any heat acquired during the day to escape. Overnight lows will reach the upper teens to the mid-20s from northwest to southeast, but some of the colder spots could dip into the lower to mid-teens.
