Clearing Skies At Midday On This Thanksgiving Eve

As of 11:00 am this morning, the severe weather threat has completely to an end for Central Alabama. We had a surprise spin up storm this morning over Pike and Barbour counties that may have produced a tornado or two. We have damage reports coming in from Brundidge in Pike County from approximately 8:58 am as there was damage to mobile homes, windows were blown out, damage to doors, and trees were blown down. This occurred roughly around 1 mile west of Brundidge on Alabama State Road 10.

Only a few showers remain over the southeastern parts of the area while skies are clearing out behind the showers over the rest of Central Alabama. Temperatures were in the upper 50s to the lower 70s across the area. Haleyville is at 58 degrees well behind the cold front while several locations ahead of the front are tied at 72 as the warm spots. Birmingham was at 71 degrees.

As the front continues to move through the area, temperatures will slowly start to fall. Locations north of the I-59 corridor have already reached their highs for today, while locations south of that may warm by a couple of degrees. Skies will clear out for the night time and overnight hours and lows will dip down into the mid-30s to the mid-40s from north to south.

Thanksgiving Day will be an overall nice day across Central Alabama. Skies will be mainly sunny in the eastern half of the area while some clouds may filter out the some in the west. No rain is expected and afternoon highs will be in the mid-50s to the upper 60s across the area from northwest to southeast.

For those hitting the stores to do some pre-dawn Black Friday shopping, temperatures at 12:00 am will be in the lower 50s to the lower 60s across the area, and dropping into the lower to mid-40s by daybreak. The day will be nice with mild temperatures and no rain. Highs will be up in the lower 60s to the lower 70s across the area.
