A Quick Update Just Before Midnight… Action Winding Down

| December 10, 2019 @ 11:46 pm

Just like the high-resolution NAM showed earlier this morning with my first update, snow is coming to an end across much of North/Central Alabama with what little remains falling is over the northern parts of Jackson and Dekalb counties. We now have a decent band of rain pretty much on the I-59 corridor from the northeastern corner of the state to the southwest. It is actually just south of the I-59/20 corridor from Tuscaloosa to York.

As the wintry precipitation comes to an end for some locations, those counties have been removed from the Winter Weather Advisories that were issued earlier. Only Blount, Cherokee, and Etowah remain in an advisory until 2:00 am, but that will probably be canceled shortly.

We will still need to watch out as temperatures falling below freezing with residual moisture on local roadways will lead to the possibility of hazardous travel in some areas late tonight into early Wednesday morning. Patchy ice may create slick spots on some local roads… bridges and overpasses in less-traveled areas. Please use extra caution if you have to travel. Temperatures will rise above freezing by 9:00 am.
