Teams Will Head Out Today To Survey Storm Damage Across North/Central Alabama

| December 17, 2019 @ 9:19 am

Two teams will be heading out today from NWS Birmingham to survey damage across multiple counties. The first team will survey damage in Sumter, Marengo, Greene, Hale, and Perry counties. The second team will survey damage in Bibb, Chilton, and Shelby counties.

Damage in most of these counties was associated with one supercell that moved into southern Sumter County from Mississippi and possibly dropped a few tornadoes on its path until it finally weakened in Shelby County.

NWS Birmingham will issue additional Public Information Statements periodically through the day as survey teams report back with their findings.

NWS Huntsville will also be sending out three teams to survey possible tornado damage in Colbert, Lawrence, and Madison counties. They will also issue additional Public Information Statements periodically through the day as survey teams report back with their findings.
