A Total Of Nine Tornadoes Hit North/Central Alabama On Monday

Both NWS Birmingham and NWS Huntsville completed their surveys of the damage that occurred on late Monday afternoon through Monday night and the grand total is at nine. At this point, the total that have struck the state so far in 2019 is now up to 76, but that number will probably change as there could have been another tornado that occurred in the southeastern corner of the state earlier today. The following information is taken from the public information statements issued by both offices:

EF-2 with estimated peak winds of 115 MPH
Damage Path Length: 7.4 miles
Damage Path Width: 250 yards
Occurrence Times: 4:52 pm – 5:01 pm

Fatalities: 0

Town Creek Tornado (Lawrence Co.)
EF-2 with estimated peak winds of 134 MPH
Damage Path Length: 7.9 miles
Damage Path Width: 370 yards
Occurrence Times: 5:08 pm – 5:23 pm
Injuries: 3
Fatalities: 2

Monrovia Tornado (Madison Co.)
EF-1 with estimated peak winds of 105 MPH
Damage Path Length: 1.25 miles
Damage Path Width: 25 yards
Occurrence Times: 5:54 pm – 6:00 pm
Injuries: 0
Fatalities: 0

Meridianville Tornado (Madison Co.)
EF-0 with estimated peak winds of 85 MPH
