Areal Flood Advisory For Chilton & Coosa Counties Until 9:45 PM

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for…
Chilton County in central Alabama…
Coosa County in east central Alabama…

* Until 945 PM CST.

* At 647 PM CST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding in
the advisory area. Up to one inch of rain has already fallen, with
additional heavy rainfall expected over the next couple of hours.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Calera, Clanton, Jemison, Goodwater, Rockford, Kellyton, Equality,
Stewartville, Weogufka, Thorsby, Maplesville, Billingsley, Dollar,
Bradford, Gap Of The Mountain, Parnell, Strickland Crossroads,
Bentleyville, Hatchet and Verbena.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
