Flood Warning Extended until 2:45 a.m. for Parts of Franklin, Colbert, Lauderdale, and Lawrence Counties in Northwest Alabama

The NWS Huntsville continues a flood warning for parts of Colbert, Franklin, Lauderdale, and Lawrence Counties in Northwest Alabama.

There have been numerous reports of flooding, including roads underwater, in these counties.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN HUNTSVILLE ALABAMA HAS EXTENDED THE

* FLOOD WARNING FOR…
LAUDERDALE COUNTY IN NORTHWESTERN ALABAMA…
COLBERT COUNTY IN NORTHWESTERN ALABAMA…
FRANKLIN COUNTY IN NORTHWESTERN ALABAMA…
LAWRENCE COUNTY IN NORTHWESTERN ALABAMA…

* UNTIL 245 AM CST THURSDAY.

* AT 844 PM CST, DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED THAT POCKETS OF MODERATE TO
HEAVY RAIN AND EMBEDDED THUNDERSTORMS WILL PERSIST ACROSS THE
WARNING AREA THROUGH EARLY THURSDAY MORNING. BETWEEN 2 AND 4
INCHES OF RAIN HAVE ALREADY FALLEN ACROSS MUCH OF NORTHWEST
ALABAMA, AND THE ADDITIONAL RAINFALL WILL FURTHER CONTRIBUTE TO
PONDING OF WATER ON ROADS AND FLOODING OF LOW LYING AREAS THAT
NORMALLY EXPERIENCE POOR DRAINAGE.

* SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLOODING INCLUDE…
FLORENCE, MUSCLE SHOALS, RUSSELLVILLE, SHEFFIELD, TUSCUMBIA,
MOULTON, RED BAY, ROGERSVILLE, PHIL CAMPBELL AND KILLEN.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODING.
