Freezing Rain, Snow Across Northeast Alabama This Morning

| February 8, 2020 @ 7:28 am

A fast-moving disturbance is sliding across the area this morning. Precipitation is spreading across the area. Temperatures are in the lower 30s across Northeast Alabama. The precipitation may start as freezing rain before changing to snow.

Snow accumulations could be as much as one-half inch across parts of Etowah, Cherokee, Calhoun, and Cleburne Counties. There could be up to one-half inch of accumulation in these spots. In addition, an icy glaze may accumulate on exposed surfaces where freezing rain occurs. Roads may become slippery in the Winter Weather Advisory.

The NWS in Birmingham has added Cherokee and Cleburne Counties to the Winter Weather Advisory that is in effect already for Cherokee County.
