First Central AL NWA Chapter Meeting Of 2020 Pushed Back To March 31st

| March 6, 2020 @ 6:30 pm

*** Rescheduled to March 31st as Dr. Roueche will be in Tennessee evaluating damage from the tornadoes that struck on Monday night, March 2nd. ***

The Central Alabama Chapter of the National Weather Association will hold its first meeting of 2020 on Tuesday evening, March 31st at Vulcan Park. The guest speaker for the evening will be Dr. David Roueche, assistant professor of civil engineering at Auburn University. He will be speaking on the findings of his and his team’s research done on mobile/manufactured homes and other weak-framed housing issues in Alabama when dealing with severe weather. This will be an important topic as over the past 15 months, we have seen numerous deaths occurring in mobile/manufactured homes during severe weather events.

The meeting will be held in the conference room on the bottom floor of the Vulcan Museum, located off to the left of the base of Vulcan’s Pedestal. Doors will open at 6:30 pm and we’ll have a short meet and greet time with light snacks and soft drinks before the meeting comes to order at 7:00 pm. We should be finished by 8:00-8:15 pm.

The address for the meeting is:
Vulcan Park
1701 Valley View Drive
Birmingham, Alabama 35209

If you are a member of the chapter and would like to renew your membership for 2020, or if you would like to join the Central Alabama Chapter of the National Weather Association, dues are $25.00. If you are currently a student and would like to join/renew, we are still offering a discounted rate at $15.00. We’ll do signups/renews as you enter into the conference room.

The leadership of the chapter is also working hard on lining up guests for the remaining three meetings for the year, including a roundtable discussion with the chief meteorologists from each news channel in Birmingham on winter weather in Central Alabama and the Fall Severe Weather Season. We would love to see you there… and be sure to pass the word to your family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers. Each meeting will take place at Vulcan Park.

Hope to see you on March 31st!!!
