Concerning Sunday

| April 9, 2020 @ 9:27 pm

CONCERNING SUNDAY: You will see many Facebook sites run by amateurs throwing out scary words and maps concerning the severe weather threat for Alabama Sunday/Sunday night. Most running those pages know the secret to getting all the likes, shares, and clicks. Hype, and more hype.
I am very cognizant that we are in a time when most people in Alabama, and the nation, are suffering from high anxiety. The last thing I want to do is add to that. Let me encourage you to stay away from the hype sites.

Here are the simple facts…

*Yes, there is a significant threat of severe weather across Alabama and the Deep South Sunday/Sunday night.

*Yes, there is potential for a few long track supercells and strong tornadoes.

*Yes, this is April in Alabama, and these kind of days happen. They always have, and always will.

*Will this be like April 27, 2011? Bad question. Of course, the answer is no; 4.27.11 was generational. Tends to happen once every 40 years or so. Understand all it takes is one tornado in the entire state, and if that tornado comes down your street, that is YOUR April 27.

No need to be fearful; simply use the knowledge we give you and be prepared. We will get through the day just fine.

I will have a fresh blog post early tomorrow morning after a review of new model data.
