Flood Warning: Fayette, Tuscaloosa, Walker Counties Until 5:15 AM

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Flood Warning for Urban Areas and Small Streams in…
Walker County in central Alabama…
Tuscaloosa County in west central Alabama…
Southern Fayette County in west central Alabama…

* Until 515 AM CDT.

* At 1122 PM CDT, emergency management reported flooding across the
warning area. Up to four inches of rain have already fallen.
Impacts from flooding could linger for the next several hours
until water levels recede.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Tuscaloosa, Northport, Jasper, Fayette, Sumiton, Cordova, Dora,
Holt, Lake View, Brookwood, Coaling, Vance, Berry, Parrish, Coker,
Oakman, Sipsey, West Jefferson, Samantha and McFarland Mall.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
