Scattered Showers and Storms Through Tomorrow Evening

| May 17, 2020 @ 11:59 am

A band of showers and some embedded thunder has developed late this morning from the Huntsville area to just east of Birmingham to eastern Coosa County and on into southern portions of the state.

The showers are lifting east northeast and will encounter increasing instability through the afternoon hours, so they should increase ini coverage and intensity. Be alert for developing lightning in your area.

Partly to mostly cloudy skies cover the state at this hour. Temperatures are in the 70s over the northern half of the state, with 80s already over the south. It was 73F at Tuscaloosa, 76F at Birmingham, and 78F at Anniston, where thee has been more sunshine.

Additional rounds of scattered showers and storms will develop to our west this afternoon and move across the state through this evening. Expect a couple of periods of showers/storms until about 9 p.m.

More storms will develop tomorrow ahead of a cold front that will pass through the state by tomorrow night.

Be back with an update on Tropica Storm Arthur shortly!
