Strong Storms Now Affecting Chilton, Tuscaloosa, Jefferson, Shelby, & Bibb Counties

…SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ADVISORY FOR WESTERN CHILTON…EAST CENTRAL
TUSCALOOSA…SOUTHWESTERN SHELBY…EASTERN BIBB AND SOUTHWESTERN
JEFFERSON COUNTIES UNTIL 715 PM CDT…

At 636 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from Oak Grove to near Brierfield Ironworks Park to
Parnell. Movement was northeast at 45 mph.

Winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with these storms.

Locations impacted include…
Southwestern Birmingham, Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Alabaster, Bessemer,
Homewood, Pelham, Helena, Hueytown, Calera, Fairfield, Clanton,
Montevallo, Jemison, Pleasant Grove, Midfield, Adamsville, Brighton,
Indian Springs Village and Lipscomb.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
