Flood Advisory for Shelby Co. Until 7:00 pm

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for Poor Drainage Areas
for…
South Central Shelby County in central Alabama…

* Until 700 PM CDT.

* At 500 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding.
Overflowing poor drainage areas will cause minor flooding in the
advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen.

Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Columbiana, Wilsonville, Lay Lake, Shelby, Highway 145 and CR 46,
Spring Creek and Beeswax Creek Park.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
