Flood Advisory for Sumter Co. Until 7:15 pm

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Flood Advisory for…
Southwestern Sumter County in west central Alabama…

* Until 715 PM CDT.

* At 510 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have
fallen.

Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Livingston, York, Epes, The University Of West Alabama, Boyd,
Bluffport, Old Mallard Airport and Payneville.

Additional rainfall of 1 inch is expected over the area. This
additional rain will result in minor flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.
