Heavy Rain/Storms Across the Birmingham Area

Heavy rain and storms have developed in the past hour in the Birmingham Metro area.

The heaviest rains now are across the western and northern pars oof the City of Birmingham right now. With one-hour rainfall rates of 1-2 inches per hour or more, some local flooding will occur and a flood advisory has been issued for parts of Jefferson County.

0.86 inches in just over 30 minutes at the Birmingham Airport.

Other heavy storms are in the Tuscaloosa area, extending down into Bibb County near Centreville.

The storms aren’t severe and should remain below severe limits, but they wi have gusty winds and very heavy rain as well as lightning.

Motion is slow and erratic but generally to the south.
