Mid-Afternoon Check on Our Weather

| September 4, 2020 @ 2:50 pm

At 2:40 pm, Central Alabama is rain-free and hot while there are some showers falling over portions of Lauderdale and Colbert counties in North Alabama. Those showers are associated with a cold front that will be pushing through the area this afternoon and is expected to be as far south as around the Demopolis to Montgomery to Auburn areas by this evening.

We’ll have a small chance of a few stray showers and thunderstorms across the northern half of the area until sunset. Otherwise, skies will be mostly clear to partly cloudy with highs topping out in the upper 80s to the mid-90s across the area from northwest to southeast. Any shower activity will quickly diminish around or after sunset and the evening and overnight hours will be dry. Lows will be in the mid-60s to the mid-70s.

While a brief shower or two may be possible in the extreme southern portions of Pike and Barbour counties during the afternoon hours, the rest of Central Alabama will be dry and a touch cooler… especially for the northernmost locations. Highs will top out in the mid-80s to the mid-90s from northwest to southeast. Skies will be partly to mostly sunny and humidity values will be a little lower.
