The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for…
Southern Barbour County in southeastern Alabama…
* Until 1215 AM CDT Thursday.
* At 613 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the
warned area. Between 4 and 7 inches of rain have fallen. Flash
flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD…Life threatening flash flooding. Heavy rain producing
flash flooding.
SOURCE…Doppler radar.
IMPACT…Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include…
Clio, Clayton, Louisville, Blue Springs, Texasville, Tyler
Crossroads, Blue Springs State Park, Gaino, Richards Crossroads,
Boot Hill, Doster, Millers Ford, Clayton Municipal Airport and
Baker Hill.
Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are possible in the
warned area.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.
