Cold Night Ahead; Nothing But Sun Over The Weekend
**No Weather Xtreme video this afternoon**
COLD NIGHT AHEAD: With a clear sky and diminishing wind, we project a low in the 34-42 degree range for most communities early tomorrow morning with a chance of scattered light frost. A frost advisory has been issued for the far northern part of the state.
The weekend will feature picture perfect autumn weather. Sunshine in full supply both days; the high tomorrow will be near 70, followed by mid 70s Sunday.
NEXT WEEK: The high will be at or just over 80 degrees most of the week; the weather will be dry Monday and Tuesday. A few isolated showers are possible Wednesday and Thursday, but showers are more likely at the end of the week Friday as a cold front approaches.
TROPICS: Shower activity associated with a broad non-tropical low pressure system located about 600 miles east-southeast of Bermuda is continuing to become better organized, and satellite wind data indicates that the circulation has become somewhat better defined. Additional development of this system is expected, and a subtropical or tropical depression could form during the next few days while the low meanders over the central Atlantic well to the southeast of Bermuda.
Also, A broad area of low pressure is expected to form early next week over the southwestern Caribbean Sea. Some gradual development of this system will be possible through the middle of next week while it moves slowly over the southwestern or western Caribbean Sea.
There are no systems threatening the Gulf of Mexico over the next five days.
FOOTBALL WEATHER: Tonight will be cool and dry for high school football games across Alabama. The sky will be clear with temperatures falling from the upper 50s at kickoff, into the upper 40s by the final whistle.
Tomorrow, Auburn travels to South Carolina to take on the Gamecocks in Columbia (11a CT kickoff)… The sky will be sunny with temperatures rising from 62 at kickoff into the mid 60s by the fourth quarter. UAB will host Western Kentucky at Legion Field tomorrow (12:30p CT kickoff)… look for sunshine in full supply with temperatures rising from 66 at kickoff, to near 70 by the final whistle.
And, tomorrow night Alabama hosts Georgia at Bryant-Denny Stadium (7p CT kickoff)… the sky will be clear with temperatures falling from near 65 at kickoff, into the mid 50s by the end of the game.
ON THIS DATE IN 1944: The 1944 Cuba – Florida hurricane, also known as the Pinar del Rio Hurricane, struck western Cuba on this day as a Category 4. This storm killed an estimated 300 people in Cuba and nine in Florida.
