Very Nice At Mid-Afternoon

| October 19, 2020 @ 2:29 pm

Not much has changed since the midday update with the exception of a few more fair-weather clouds have been added to the skies and temperatures have warmed a little more. Skies continue to be mainly clear across much of Central Alabama, but we do have some clouds drifting into the northern parts of the state from a stalled front located off to our north. Temperatures as of 2:00 pm were in the upper 70s to the lower 80s. Birmingham was at 81 degrees. Several locations were tied at 83 degrees as the warm spots while Alexander City and Gadsden were tied as the cool spots at 77 degrees.

Temperatures will start heading in the other direction within the next hour or so and will steadily fall into the lower to mid-70s by 7:00 pm and into the mid to upper 60s by the late local news. Skies will be mostly clear to partly cloudy across the area with overnight lows in the mid-50s to right around 60 degrees.

Dry weather is expected throughout the day on Tuesday with warm temperatures. We’ll start off with partly cloudy skies across the area during the morning hours, but by the afternoon we’ll have mainly clear skies. Afternoon highs will top out in the lower to mid-80s.

There will be a small potential for a few showers over the extreme east and southeastern portions of Central Alabama late on Wednesday, then again during the afternoon and early evening hours on Thursday for much of Central Alabama. Showers will continue to be possible on Friday and through much of the day on Saturday, but chances still look to remain small. Sunday looks to be an overall mostly dry day, but a stray shower can’t be ruled out. Temperatures will stay in the lower to mid-80s through Thursday before stepping back into the 70s for Friday and the weekend.
