A Quick Check on Our Weather at 9:20 am

| November 25, 2020 @ 9:36 am

As of 9:20 am this morning, we have a line of showers and storms moving through the northwestern parts of the area with the southern part of the line moving into the west and southwestern parts of Central Alabama. No severe storms at this point, but we do have a Significant Weather Advisory for parts of Marion and Fayette counties for the potential of wind gusts up to 40MPH. The rest of the line of storms in the area is staying well-behaved at this point.

A Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) continues for nearly all of North/Central Alabama for the rest of your Wednesday and into the pre-dawn hours on Thursday morning. We don’t expect any severe weather during the morning hours, but there will be enough wind shear and instability available out ahead of an approaching cold front that a few isolated damaging wind gusts up to 60 MPH and a brief tornado may be possible.

Timing for the potential for strong to severe storms will be from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm today across the area from northwest to southeast in the Marginal Risk locations. Severe weather is not expected for locations along and south of the I-85 corridor tonight.

Rain will continue to be likely at times throughout the day all across Central Alabama until the cold front passes by your location. Unfortunately, the front will stall out over the south-central parts of Central Alabama and will continue to have the potential for showers south of a line from Selma to Alexander City to Roanoke for Thanksgiving Day. Behind the front, skies will be clearing and the day will be dry.

We’ll have updates throughout the day on our weather situation. Stay weather aware.
