Alabama head football coach Nick Saban wins a lot of games by not trying to win games. He does it by building leaders. That isn’t just borne out in the lists of All-Pro selections, statistical leaders or having starters at every offensive and defensive position in the league; his former players are also being recognized for leading in life.

Quinnen Williams is giving back within his home community of Birmingham this month. His foundation is now accepting applications for holiday relief, for single-parent households in need in and around the neighborhoods where he grew up.

Williams’ isn’t alone replicating his hard work in the trenches within his community. Three of his fellow Crimson Tide greats are nominated for this year’s Walter Payton Man of the Year. Each NFL franchise gets to nominate one player, and Alabama is represented by 3 of the 32 candidates.
