As of 10:30 pm, the Surface Low Moves Closer to Central Alabama

| December 13, 2020 @ 10:30 pm

Radar at 10:14 pm shows a mass of light to moderate rain over much of North/Central Alabama with much heavier rain falling up into Tennessee and southern portions of Kentucky. What we will be watching is the line of storms moving through the southern and southeastern portions of Mississippi that is just along and south of a surface low moving through southern parts of Mississippi.

For now, no severe weather watches or warnings are in effect for this line of storms, but NWS Jackson have a few Significant Weather Advisories issued along the line for the potential of strong winds up to 40-50 MPH.

The surface low is approaching Meridian, Mississippi, and will move into the southwestern portions of Central Alabama within the next 30-60 minutes. That will open the window for the potential of strong to marginally severe storms through the late-night and overnight hours across the southern half of Central Alabama.

A Marginal Risk for severe storms continues for portions of Central Alabama through the rest of the night tonight and into the early morning hours on Monday. The risk area includes locations along south of a line from Aliceville to Gardendale to Jacksonville, and along and north of a line from Roanoke to Wetumpka to a little ways south of Selma.
