Midday Nowcast: Passing Clouds

| January 4, 2021 @ 10:58 am

The first half of this week will feature pretty decent weather for January in Alabama. After the chilly morning, we are warming up into the upper 50s and lower 60s across Alabama this afternoon.

We will be seeing more clouds through the afternoon, evening, and overnight as a weak boundary swings through the state, but we stay dry. Tomorrow and Wednesday will more sun than clouds, with highs in the mid to upper 50s. Clouds begin to increase late Wednesday.

RAIN RETURNS: Moisture levels begin to rise late Wednesday with increasing clouds with rain returning to the area Thursday. The surface low will slowly move east across the state on Thursday that will bring a decent chance of rain throughout the day. It will be a cloudy and chilly day with highs in the upper 40s and lower 50s. Rainfall amounts around 1/2 inches are likely, but no severe weather is expected. The rain ends late Thursday night and early Friday; can’t totally rule out a snow flake or two over the Tennessee Valley of far North Alabama. Look for slow clearing Friday with a high in the upper 40s.
