Quick Radar Check Just After Noon

| January 11, 2021 @ 12:20 pm

Snow is beginning to taper off across Northwest and North Alabama early this afternoon as temperatures nudge above freezing.

There are still some slushy roads across parts of Marion, Lamar, Fayette, northwestern Walker, Winston, Pickens, Colbert, and Franklin Counties, so be cautious if you will be driving in these areas.

Radar continues to depict snow across parts of Walker, Franklin, Lawrence, Marion, and Cullman Counties, but most surface reports say that it has turned to rain.

Huntsville International, Huntsville Executive, Redstone Arsenal, and Decatur all are still reporting light snow at this hour with temperatures between 33-34F, so that precipitation will be hanging over to rain as well.

Patches of rain continue across the remainder of North and Central Alabama with temperatures in the upper 30s and 40s. Highs today won’t get much warmer.

Temperatures tonight will fall below freezing in areas northwest of I-59. There could be some freezing of moisture on roads that will result in dangerous patches of black ice overnight in Northwest areas that don’t have a chance to dry out completely.

We will see increasing sunshine tomorrow, but most places will stay in the 40s for highs.
