Showers Moving Across the Area Tonight

| January 30, 2021 @ 10:56 pm

Showers are pushing across North and Central Alabama tonight ahead of a deepening upper-level trough and cold front that will be pushing through the state tomorrow.

Temperatures are in the 50s except for Northeast Alabama, where there are 40s at Albertville and Fort Payne.

The showers will continue pushing through the area overnight and will be mainly southeast of I-59 before 8 a.m.

There will be some clearing tomorrow morning, but clouds should thicken again by afternoon. There could be a few light showers ahead of a cold front that will reach the I-5r9 Corridor by dar. Temperatures will fall quickly behind the front, into the 40s.

It’s windy tonight and it will be windy tomorrow as well. Winds could gust to 35 mph overnight and to 25 mph tomorrow.

By Monday morning, temperatures will be near freezing over the Tennessee Valley, with the middle 30s in the I-20 Corridor, and upper 30s over South Central Alabama.

Monday will mostly cloudy, windy, and sharply colder, with high temperatures struggling to get out of the 30s over the northern half of the state. Lows will be in the 20s Monday night. The gusty northwesterly winds will continue until early Tuesday and there will be a few snow showers over eastern Tennessee, western North Carolina, down into extreme Northeast Alabama.

The new forecast is up and I will have the video for you by 7 a.m.
