A Little Sleet Over North Alabama, Rain in Most Areas

Light rain is occurring across parts of North and Central Alabama tonight. There are a few reports of sleet across the Tennessee Valley.

Temperatures are in the upper 30s in places like Haleyville, Cullman, Albertville, Gadsden, and Pell City. It is 37F at the Huntsville International Airport. Sleet is now being reported in parts of Huntsville.

It is reportedly snowing in Mentone in Northeast Alabama.

The rain is expected to change to snow across parts of the northern quarter of Alabama overnight, and a dusting of snow could occur in some places over the northern quarter of the state. Some higher elevation locations could receive up to an inch of snow by early Sunday. Where that occurs, some slick spots could develop on roads, especially bridges and overpasses.

Temperatures by morning will be near freezing over the Tennessee Valley, with middle and upper 30s over Central Alabama.

Skies will gradually clear during the morning with a decent supply of sunshine by afternoon. Highs tomorrow will be in the upper 40s over the Tennessee Valley, with lower and middle 50s across Central Alabama.
