Storms Weakening as they Push East of Birmingham

| February 11, 2021 @ 7:23 am

The storms that have brought very heavy rain, intense lightning, and gusty winds to the Birmingham Metro area have pushed east of the city at this hour and have weakened a bit as they encounter slightly cooler and more stable air.

The leading edge of the storms now extends from Ohatchee and Lincoln to Harpersville, Columbiana, and Calera.

I picked up 1.27 inches of rain in 30 minutes near Acton Road and I-459. Rain now covers a good bit of the northwestern half of Alabama.

Our cold front is over northwestern Alabama, It is 60F in Birmingham and 43F in Haleyville. It is 38F in Tupelo and 32F in Oxford. There is light freezing rain in Memphis with a temperature of 30F.
