A Brief Update on the Freezing Rain Potential at 11:30 pm
Radar is showing the potential for freezing rain falling over the northwestern and extreme northern portions of North/Central Alabama as of 11:30 pm. A good portion of the rest of the area is seeing light rain at this point, and it should stay that way throughout the remainder of the overnight hours.

NWS Huntsville has updated their potential ice totals for tonight through 8:00 am Saturday morning, with much of the area expected to receive somewhere from a light glaze up to 0.15 inches of ice accumulation. Travel problems may occur due to the potential for ice accumulation on bridges, overpasses, and other elevated surfaces. Ice should begin to melt after 8:00 am Saturday morning.
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY continues for Colbert, Cullman, Franklin, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marshall, and Morgan counties in North Alabama until 8:00 am Saturday morning.
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY continues for Blount, Fayette, Lamar, Marion, Walker, and Winston counties in Central Alabama until 8:00 am Saturday morning as well.
Freezing rain is also possible in those locations under the advisory in Central Alabama as slick spots may be possible on bridges and overpasses. Once again, any ice accumulation should begin to melt after 8:00 am.
