Winter Weather Advisory Extended for a Few Counties Until Noon; Plus, A Few Local Icing Reports

NWS Birmingham has allowed the Winter Weather Advisory for Blount, Fayette, and Walker counties to expire, but it has been extended for Lamar, Marion, and Winston counties until 12:00 pm. Motorists in those counties will need to continue to use extreme caution out on the roadways as icing may still be possible on bridges and overpasses.

Local Storm Report by NWS HUN: 4 ESE Phil Campbell [Franklin Co, AL] mesonet reports FREEZING RAIN of E0.09 INCH at 05:00 AM CST — freezing rain accumulations of 0.01 to 0.09 were measured from 10 pm – 5 am.

Local Storm Report by NWS HUN: 10 S Moulton [Lawrence Co, AL] mesonet reports FREEZING RAIN of E0.05 INCH at 05:00 AM CST — freezing rain accumulations of 0.01 to 0.05 were measured from 10 pm – 5 am.

Local Storm Report by NWS HUN: 2 SE Leighton [Colbert Co, AL] mesonet reports FREEZING RAIN of E0.01 INCH at 05:00 AM CST — freezing rain and drizzle accumulations of around 0.01 were measured from 10 pm – 5 am.

Local Storm Report by NWS HUN: 2 ESE Decatur [Morgan Co, AL] public reports FREEZING RAIN of M0.10 INCH at 08:46 AM CST — freezing rain accumulations of 0.02 to 0.10 were measured from 10 pm – 6 am.

Local Storm Report by NWS HUN: 3 E Athens [Limestone Co, AL] cocorahs reports FREEZING RAIN of M0.08 INCH at 08:00 AM CST — freezing rain and drizzle accumulations of 0.01 to 0.08 were measured from 10 pm – 8 am.

Local Storm Report by NWS HUN: 4 W Good Hope [Cullman Co, AL] emergency mngr reports ICE STORM at 09:05 AM CST — freezing rain accumulations of 0.30-0.35 inches were measured from 10 pm – 8 am. ema reported 1/4 or more of ice accumulation, multiple reports of trees down, and several accidents on bridges and overpasses due to icy roads.
