Winter Weather Advisory Extended Until Noon for North Alabama Counties

| February 13, 2021 @ 9:56 am

NWS Huntsville extends the Winter Weather Advisory to 12:00 pm for Colbert, Cullman, Franklin, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marshall, and Morgan counties in North Alabama.

Light freezing rain or drizzle will remain possible mainly east of a line from Killen to Hodges. Icing has already occurred in most areas, especially on bridges, overpasses, and elevated areas. Most areas have received a trace to around 0.15 inches of ice…with higher amounts up to 0.25 inches in northern portions of Cullman county. An additional few hundredths of additional accumulation is possible through noon before precipitation should be ending from west to east.

The glaze of ice resulting from freezing rain will be most notable on elevated and exposed surfaces, including bridges and overpasses. Expect slick spots on roads and bridges, with hazardous travel conditions possible through the morning.
