Midday Nowcast: Severe Clear and Very Cool Temps
Tons of sunshine across the Alabama landscape today, but despite the sunshine, temperatures remain unseasonably cool with highs struggling to reach the mid 50s later this afternoon, which are about 15 degrees below average for this time of year.
Add in that gusty northerly wind, it is feeling colder as well. Winds remain sustained at 15-25 and could gust as high as 40mph, and is why a wind advisory remains in effect until this evening.
FREEZE WARNING TONIGHT: The winds go light and with a clear sky overnight, temperatures will have no problem falling below freezing for most locations across North and South Alabama as we project lows in the 22-32 degree range…You have to take precautions to protect sensitive vegetation as temperatures this cold will cause harm. Tomorrow will be sunny and cool, with highs in the upper 50s and lower 60s. Lows Friday night will fall back into the upper 20s and lower 30s, so more frost/freeze issues are possible Saturday morning.
