| May 1, 2021 @ 12:57 pm

Skies are nearly completely clear across Central Alabama as we approach the 1 pm hour on this first day of May. Temperatures at the 12 pm round up were in the lower 70s to right at 80 degrees across the area. Tuscaloosa was leading the way at 80 degrees while the cool spots were Gadsden and Pell City at 73 degrees. Birmingham was at 77 degrees.

A Nice Saturday, Storms on Sunday
Skies will continue to stay mostly clear throughout the remainder of the daylight hours, while clouds will start moving in later this evening ahead of unsettled weather that will affect Central Alabama through midweek. We’ll stay dry and afternoon highs will reach the lower to mid-80s across the area.

A surface low will develop off to our west-southwest on Sunday that will move in our general direction throughout the day. Showers and storms will move into the western parts of the area by mid-afternoon, dissipating a little during the late-night hours, and keeping a decent chance of showers and a few rumbles of thunder through the overnight hours. Afternoon highs will be in the upper 70s to the mid 80s.

A Slight Risk is up for locations along and west of a line from Sulligent (Lamar Co.) to Gordo (Pickens Co.) to Thomaston (Marengo Co.), while a Marginal Risk is up east of that to a line from Cherokee (Colbert Co.) to Adamsville (Jefferson Co.) to White Hall (Lowndes Co.). Isolated damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph and quarter size hail will be possible. For now, the main window for stronger storms will be from 5 pm to 11 pm.
