Forecast on Track; Hot in Coming Days

| May 23, 2021 @ 2:21 pm

Our forecast is on track early this afternoon. Lowered today’s temperatures just a couple of degrees. At 2 p.m. it was 87F at Tuscaloosa, 86F at Birmingham, and 83F at Gadsden and Anniston.

Highs are still expected to top out near 90F. Skies are partly cloudy with a beautiful cumulus field in place across the state. Lows tonight will drop into the 60s.

90s will be common over the next several days. We will be dry through the week and until late Friday. A few showers and storms will show up by then as a cold front tries to approach from the north. Passing showers and storms will be the norm next weekend and Memorial Day.

In the Atlantic, Tropical Storm Ana is hanging on with top winds of 40 mph. It made the transition to a tropical storm early this morning, but it has lost its convection and is expected to weaken over the next 18 hours or so, opening into a trough.
