Alabama Newscenter — Alabama Honors Lineworkers on Lineman Appreciation Day

Alabama Power and utilities across the state pause today to recognize the contributions of the men and women who work on the front lines to generate and deliver the reliable energy that powers homes and businesses.

Lineman Appreciation Day, designated by the Alabama Legislature as the first Monday in June, acknowledges the dedication of lineworkers statewide to serving their communities.

“It’s a great honor that our state sets aside this day to recognize the hard work our members do every day,” said Casey Shelton, IBEW System Council U-19 business manager. “Throughout the uncertainty of this past year, we have wanted customers to be assured that we’re working hard to keep the lights on.”
