Flood Advisories Posted For Several Counties in North Central Alabama

| June 21, 2021 @ 11:00 pm

Showers and thunderstorms continue in an east-west corridor across northeastern Mississippi and North Central Alabama tonight.

The line is not making very quick progress to the south, so we are seeing persistent rains in the same areas. This will lead to flooding areas which been persistent downpours.

The NWS in Birmingham has issued flood advisories for parts of Marion and Winston Counties, and for parts of Blount, Calhoun, Etowah, Jefferson, St. Clair, and Walker Counties until 1:30 a.m.

One to two inches of rain has already fallen in these areas. An additional one to two inches is expected to fall before the rain moves away.

Be alert to rising water and stay away from flooded areas. We already had two tragic drownings this past weekend in Alabama. TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN!
