Strong Storms Affecting Parts of Bibb & Chilton Counties

…SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ADVISORY FOR WESTERN CHILTON AND BIBB COUNTIES UNTIL 445 PM CDT…

At 352 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Mertz to 8 miles east of Heiberger to 8 miles northeast of Burnsville. Movement was northeast at 20 mph. Winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with these storms.

Clanton, Brent, Centreville, Jemison, Thorsby, Vance, West Blocton, Maplesville, Billingsley, Parnell, West Centreville, Plecher, Lawley, Ashby, Brierfield Ironworks Park, Mertz, Talladega National Forest, Eoline, Chilton County Motor Sports Park and Pooles Crossroads.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
