Flood Advisory Issued for Jefferson County Until 8:15 pm

The Lakeview District is seeing some street flooding. Please do not drive on water-covered roadways.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for…
East Central Jefferson County in central Alabama…

* Until 815 PM CDT.

* At 612 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding.
Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen over a short period of
time. High rainfall rates will persist for awhile longer before
lessening.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Birmingham, Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Homewood, Mountain Brook,
Irondale, Fairfield, Fultondale, Center Point, Tarrant, Midfield,
Brighton, Lipscomb, Five Points South, U.A.B. Campus, Regions
Field, B.j.c.c., Kingston, Samford University and Legion Field.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
