Flash Flood Watch for North Alabama Has Been Extended in Time & Area

| July 20, 2021 @ 8:59 am

NWS Huntsville extends the Flash Flood Watch for Colbert, DeKalb, Franklin, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marshall, and Morgan counties in North Alabama until 10 pm tonight; plus, extending the watch in area to now include Cullman County.

Numerous showers and a few thunderstorms are expected today along a stationary front with widespread rainfall totals of 1 to 2 inches and isolated totals up to 4 to 5 inches. Heavy rain last weekend has saturated soils, and rain rates will likely exceed absorption rates, leading to potential flash flooding.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
