NWS Huntsville Issues a Special Weather Statement on Today’s Heat

A Dangerous Combination Of Heat And Humidity Expected Across Northwest And North Central Alabama Today

Counties in North Alabama: Colbert, Cullman, Franklin, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Morgan

The combination of afternoon temperatures in the lower-mid 90s and dewpoints in the lower-mid 70s will result in a dangerous combination of heat and humidity across northwest and north central Alabama today. Although most locations will experience heat index readings in the 100-105 degree range, a few locations across northwest Alabama could see the heat index reach up to 107 degrees if showers and thunderstorms do not develop early in the day. Please exercise proper precautions if you are planning to spend time outdoors, such as drinking plenty of water and taking frequent breaks in an air-conditioned facility.
